Lens

Standard A standard lens is one that has a field of view similar to that of the human eye which is about 50 degrees this is a good all round lens as it photographs almost exactly what you see and how you see it, it is a good walk about lens and is the best lens to buy if you can only have 1 lens, it can be a fixed focal length lens of about 30/35mm, or it could be a short zoom with a range of about 17/50mm.

FISHEYE A fish eye lens has a very short focal length, which means it has a very wide field of view, usually around 180 degrees, because of its wide field of view it is useful for getting a lot in the picture where space is limited, 1 problem with fish eyes is the distortion and verticals can sometimes appear as curves. One occupation that uses fish eye or ultra wide lenses are estate agents to help them to show insides of rooms when producing a brochure to sell a house.

MACRO A macro lens is a special lens that is used to take close up photo’s of subjects such as insects, flowers and small items such as watch parts ,coins or stamps, true macro lenses have the ability to produce photographs that are life size or even bigger.

Movement

For this exercise we were told to go out and take photographs using movement.

Using a fast shutter Speed to stop the water dead

Using a slow shutter speed give the effect that the water is moving.

i used a slow shutter speed to to make it look like the bird is still moving.

Macro Photography

Macro photography is close-up photography. The classical definition is that the image projected close to the same size as the subject.

Portrait Photography

For this exercise we were set the task of taking some portrait photos at first we did this in the studio in front of a black screen, but then we decided to go out side and use the natural light and the snow to get some good shots.

Rule of thirds

Rule of thirds is about how you position objects in your shot. It is a 3x3 grid which allows you to focus on an object easier. Here is an example of the rule used in some photos.

This photo uses the rule of thirds to make the people in the bottom left hand corner the centre of attention.

This is another example of the rule of thirds, with one of the cross being on the person.

Urban Landscape Research

For my urban landscape research, I will be focusing my work on Andreu Arriola.

In this image the photographer use the images in the four grounds to affect the width of the building behind it. This shows the depth of the photo. He also uses the reflection in the water to give it depth of view and shows were the light is coming from.

I like this photography as the photographer has used weird shapes and reflection.

this photo Andreu Arriola has used the lights to capture certain parts of the image. He has taken this photo in the evening to give it a calming feel to it. The colours used are neutral colours.

I like this photo because of the way that there are spots of light dotted around the photo

Texture

For this exercise we were sent out with the cameras to take photo off different textures.
